Until I Crossover
From my first kick to my last breath you was with me. Bruised knees, bruised feelings and even when my heart was
bruised, you were right there with me. You taught me love, kindness, honor and forgiveness, but most of all you taught
me godliness. You mother, carried me in your loins, heart, prayers and arms. Even when I lost my way, you kept
me in prayer that I may again gain my footing. God, Dad and always you have held me together all of my life. As
difficult as life has been at times, I could count on God, you and Dad to be there for me. We have fought a good fight
mother and stayed the course. Not many mothers can say that from the cradle to the grave, they were with their child.
How special a gift God has given us. You just kept saying, “Not yet Lord, I need more time.” You did not
ask it for yourself, but because you wanted to take care of me. He understood and allowed you to keep putting one foot
in front of the other, day after day. Be at peace mother and don’t fret. I have not preceded you in death
but have preceded you to life eternal. What Jesus promised he has performed. Dad and me; you’ve seen your
boys home. One day, time and eternity will slap their hands together and you will hear the wind whispering your name;
it will be calling you, calling you also to come home. Until then, know that all is well with my soul. Cr. Ms. Alice B. Nixon-Barr, June 19, 2011. This work is not to be duplicated
