"He Stood Up"

This picture was taken on April 27, 2005 at Nassau Community College, Uniondale, New York, by Angelina Barr.

Alice Nixon-Barr presented Paul Rusesabagina, subject of the movie "Hotel Rawanda" with a copy of the piece she wrote for him;  "He Stood Up".  It is included in her book, "The Up Side of Down".

This picture was taken at an event called "A Gathering of Women", that was held at Custer's Institute, Southold, New York in March of 2002. 

Alice B. Nixon-Barr was one of the presenting poets.  One of the pieces presented was "Yesterday Changed My Today".  It is in the "Up Side of Down".

This picture was taken on October 11, 2006 at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, New York at one of their Humanities Lectures.

Two of the Tuskegee Airmen were presenting, Lt. William Wheeler and Victor Terrelonge.  Alice Barr-Nixon read the piece, "Just For Me" to them and presented each with a copy of the book, "The Up Side Of Down" which has the piece in it.

This picture was taken on January 21, 2002 at The African-American Museum, Hempstead, New York.  Kenneth Grimball of News 12 interviewed Alice Nixon-Barr.  Later, she presented several pieces at the Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration, including "In My Spirit" and "So Far Down My Shoestrings Look High".  These pieces are in her book, "The Up Side of Down".

This picture was taken on March 18, 1995 at Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York.  Alice Nixon-Barr was a guest lecturer.  Standing next to her is Rhonda Augustine,  a Hofstra University student and Intern for the New York State Assembly.

This picture was taken on September 11, 2002 at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, New York, by Dr. Anthony Calio. 

Alice Nixon-Barr presented her piece, "For This Purpose I Was Born".  It honored those who had their lives taken on September 11, 2001 and the three youth who had their lives taken on the Long Island Expressway by an impaired driver on New Year's Eve 12/31/98.  It is included in her book, "The Up Side of Down".
